Prosperity Versus Greed

As you can see throughout our site, we have made this business to help various groups of people. One of the things that I am seeing throughout our country today that bothers me is the amount of greed that people have. There is a big difference between having what you need to live comfortably and being greedy. Greed says that I am going to get all that I can regardless of who or what it effects. This is wrong.

When I think about being greedy, I can look at many times in my life where I was so concerned that my family or myself would not have enough resources that I would begin to hold onto things that I really didn't need. Ultimately I was afraid that if there was a point in the future where I would need a certain thing that I wouldn't have it. Not that this is greed, but it the beginning of greed. This led to a house full of things that I did not have any use for. Eventually, our stuff took over our house and consumed our thoughts even to the point of having to walk over it to get to other areas of the house. If I still had that mindset, as our business grows it would be easy for me to say I am going to accumulate as much assets and money as I can in case anything happens, regardless of who it effects.

I really am not political (even though I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science smile), so I will not get into political, but social issues. I see this same mindset of greed in corporate America today. This is evident as companies are failing, but certain people in the company are getting paid millions or even billions of dollars. People who do much of a company's labor are losing their livelihood while their bosses will never have to work another day in their lives. I have no problem with people making a good living and living a good life, but when you are making a this kind of money at the expense of thousands of people, this goes from making a good living and prospering to greed.

So many times people confuse greed with prosperity. Prosperity is having what you need even to the point where you can meet the needs of those around you. Prosperity does not mean that you have to take a vow of poverty. It means that you don't have to worry about having the things that you need or even want. At Show and Tell our goal for everyone involved in our sales is prosperity in every area of your life.

We hope that we can give you an opportunity to take the things that have been accumulating in your house and allow you to get a fair amount for them. As always, we love to see your comments and we look forward to seeing you at our sale.
